"The foundation of film art is editing". ~V. I. Pudovkin, Storm Over Asia
"I change performances tremendously in the edit room. I love doing that stuff. I will take dialogue from one take, the dialogue of another take, marry that line and put in the mouth of the third take…You can all of a sudden create another performance". ~Rob Reiner, A Few Good Men
DSV Video & Film provides state-of-the-art editing both in terms of our expertise and equipment. We rely exclusively on nonlinear editing, which provides the best environment for making editorial changes. Nonlinear editing works similarly to word processing in that shots or segments can be inserted, deleted or interchanged at any point throughout the editing process. It's fast and effective. With nonlinear editing, it's also an easy matter to incorporate segments from your current video into future productions.
We own two broadcast quality, nonlinear edit systems: a Final Cut Pro system and a Media 100 system. Each one of our systems sports over a terabyte of storage. That's equivalent to over 2,000 gigabytes or 2 trillion bytes of information!
Final Cut Pro is the most popular software choice for professional editors worldwide and is used on numerous Hollywood feature films. It allows editors to easily work with formats from DV and Digital Betacam to DVCPRO and HD with ultimate precision and control over an impressive range of parameters. We particularly like the fact that you can edit programs originated in high definition video on our Final Cut Pro system. The system uses a compressionless Kona card, which ensures that there is no loss of quality regardless of how many layers of video you might composite.
Media 100 is another quality editing software used by video professionals around the world. By utilizing these two leading editing programs, we ensure that your project will look as crisp and professional as a Hollywood feature film or major commercial.
We believe that allowing ample time for the editing process is just as important as acquiring the best possible footage, so we allocate a large amount of time in editing your project. This insures that no detail is overlooked, and the final project matches the original concept we established with you in the initial client meeting. Typically, we allocate about 2 days of post-production editing time for every day of production (shooting). Dan Sperling oversees this process and is personally in charge of your final edit, so you can have confidence that your final product will be cut and timed with the instincts of a talented and seasoned professional.
