9.) What kind of work does DSV Video & Film Productions specialize in?
Our company has a great deal of experience with nearly every kind of production, however, our most extensive experience lies in producing
Production value is the perceived quality of your finished product, which is a combination of all the behind-the-scenes efforts that go into making a video including scriptwriting, choice of production format, lighting, editing, costuming, locations, props, special effects and casting. Production value factors in both the expense and the expertise that contribute to the overall look and quality of your finished product.
So putting greater thought and effort into the behind-the-scenes aspects can increase your film's production value, without necessarily increasing it's bottom line. For instance, one of the best ways we like to increase production value with only a modest increase in budget, is to have a hydraulic dolly on hand for our shoots, which allows the camera to glide fluidly, effortlessly through space, and contributes substantially to the perceived value of your finished product. The inclusion of perfectly choreographed moving shots adds an emotional edge and a polished, professional look that you just can't get from locked down tripod shots--and at only a very modest increase to the bottom line.
11.) Do you prefer on-location or studio shoots for your productions?
In most situations, on-location shooting is preferable to a studio shoot. An actual location lends an authenticity and credibility to your project which can be very costly to duplicate in the studio. Shooting on location saves money and a natural, convincing look is all but guaranteed. Natural locations look real because they are.
Location shooting, however, is not always possible. For example, background noise can make recording sound challenging or even impossible. So if your project calls for absolute quiet, or for a chroma-key background and a cyc wall, or room for a studio audience and five switchable cameras; a studio is the only way to go.
Every project is different and will dictate whether it's best to shoot on-location or in a studio.
We have the capability to produce your project on literally any video or film format. We normally recommend that clients produce in either High Definition, Digital Betcam, Beta SP, DVC Pro or on 35mm or 16mm film, depending upon your project's particular needs and budget.
